Litfuse Blog Tour Event: In Perfect Time by Sarah Sundin

In Perfect Time by Sarah Sundin will capture your attention from page 1 to 404. Sundin has this natural gift of making her characters likeable, well written and always evolving from beginning to end. I never tend to read books set in World War events, but Sundin does so well at having it be a backdrop that only intensifies the reading. If you haven't read this book yet, it's the perfect time too.

Summary

Bold, sophisticated, and flirtatious, Army Air Force flight nurse Lt. Kay Jobson collects hearts wherever she flies, leaving men pining in airfields all across Europe. So how can ruggedly handsome C-47 pilot Lt. Roger Cooper be all but immune to her considerable charms? In fact, he seems to do everything he can to avoid her.

Still, as they cross the skies between Italy and southern France, evacuating the wounded and delivering paratroopers and supplies, every beat of their hearts draws them closer to where they don't want to go. Can they confront the fears and misunderstandings in their pasts?

Sarah Sundin seamlessly weaves together emotion, action, and sweet romance into a tale that transcends time and calls us to believe in the power of love.

My Thoughts

This is the third and final book of the "Wings of the Nightingale" Series that Sundin has done so beautifully at writing for her readers. I have read every single one of Sundin's books and have fallen in love with each and every character she has created. So when I saw this book come in the mail I was super ecstatic to read it. As a note: if you have not read the other books of this series it would not hurt you to read this out of order, but it could and would only help you as a reader to benefit in your experience if you read the first two books in this series.

Like I said before, I don't tend to gravitate towards WWII books, somehow it feels like they gravitate towards me. Nonetheless, I loved this book. Can't wait to re-read this whole series again.

In this novel, we get to finally see through the eyes of the bold, sophisticated, and coy, Army Air Force flight nurse Lt. Kay Jobson. When we meet her she has five boyfriends and yet she doesn't give them what they all want. I never thought I was going to like Kay because in the other two books I didn't get that type of vibe. But oh am I glad that this book was about her. Her depth and storyline is probably one of the most creative I have read in a long time. Basically, (without giving much away) her father is a con-religious man who takes the book of Job literal because of their last name- Jobson. That has lead Kay to be deemed evil by her intense father which creates a huge gap between her and her Heavenly Father. If that doesn't make you want to buy the book and see the amazing growth of Kay through that I don't know what will.

This is when Roger comes in. Roger is a 29 year old "kid" who is a pilot in the Army and dreams of being a professional drummer. He bonds with Kay through giving her his Bible so that she can finally understand that anyone and everyone is redeemed because of Jesus. Roger was a sweet guy who was also going through transitions in his life of wanting to be taken seriously and working through past regrets. Him and Kay are totally meant for each other and I loved the outcome of the relationship. (It involves drumming and morse code.) I felt it sweet that their relationship started on the foundation of the Bible, where Kay saw him as a friend who she could go to with questions instead of another guy to flirt with.

From beginning to end I couldn't put this down. Probably finished it in three hours. I want more Sundin! Can't wait for her next series. :)
